Greek Turkey Burgers With Tzatziki Sauce

flavors of Greece, right at home

The Greek flavors pair well with the mild turkey. You can even sneak a little spinach in for the kids! Tastes great with a fresh Greek salad on the side.

Ingredients

  • 48 oz. ground turkey or ground chicken (this is the larger size of Jennie-O or Honeysuckle -- freeze the extras if you don't need all of them at once)
  • 10 oz. chopped fresh spinach
  • 1 medium red onion, finely diced
  • 1 1/2 tsp. Greek seasoning
  • 4 oz. reduced fat feta cheese crumbled (more or less to taste)
  • 1 egg
  • Salt and pepper
  • Whole wheat hamburger buns or 100 calorie thins
  • Tzatziki Sauce Ingredients:
  • 1 cup plain greek yogurt
  • 2 Tbsp olive oil
  • juice of 1/2 of a lemon (and zest)
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • ½ - ¾ tsp garlic powder or minced garlic
  • 1/4 cup grated cucumber
  • fresh parsley and mint, chopped (optional)

Directions

  • Mix all ingredients for tzatziki sauce in medium bowl; chill until time to serve

  • For turkey burgers, microwave frozen spinach as directed on the box

  • Squeeze spinach dry with paper towels

  • In large bowl, mix all other ingredients

  • Use clean hands to make sure everything is mixed together evenly; the mixture should make 10-12 evenly sized burgers

  • Preheat grill to 400 degrees

  • Cook approximately 6-7 minutes per side or until cooked through

  • Top with shredded lettuce and tzatiki sauce
